Farming backgroundAugust- September 2014 - Intensive dairy system with 300 Holsteins. Main jobs were milking, scraper tractor, pushing up feed, bedding up and other general farm tasks around the yard. 2015-2017 3 harvests during my time at university driving 250hp John Deere with 20 tonne Richard Western trailers. Other jobs included; cultivations, rolling, discs, deep ripping, topping, bale chasing and other general farm tasks. I also completed a 20 week work placement there in 2016 where I helped spread digestate from the on farm AD plant. The farm followed a CTF system during harvest. Burlington Farming October -December 2017 After my degree I came travelling to Australia. Burlington farming is located in Tasmania and grows different Varities of grass seed including fescue and ryegrasses. My main jobs were irrigating the fields using a hard hose winch which were not irrigated with a pivot system. At one stage I was running 9 winches at a time. Moving them with a tractor and using the hydraulics to line them up with the route the winches needed to be winches in. Other Jobs; hay work, cultivations, topping, fencing and cattle work. Bimbil PTY LTD January 2018- present After Christmas I came to Queensland to work on a 40,000 acre mixed cotton and livestock farm in St George. My main jobs include; irrigating the cotton, cultivations, spot spraying, fencing, cattle and sheep mustering, direct drilling dryland crops, drenching, crutching, topping.
