Farming background

I arrived in Australia and immeadiately secured a job on a large sheep and cropping farm with over 4,000 sheep. I then later moved to a sheep farm with over 10,000 sheep, cattle and cropping. Although my experience was limited I was given a chance and I worked extremely hard to become a vital memeber of the teams and was trusted to work alone after a short period. I was able to greatly improve my skills while in Australia and I can now become a competant memeber of a team in Scotland. While in Australia I was entrusted with the following jobs. - Dragging sheep for crutching/sheering, working in the sheering shed rousing, wool classing and wool bailing. -Vacinating ewes, lambs and wethers. -Marked, tailed and muelsed over 2000 lambs during busy lambing season. - Drafting sheep/lambs for markets and loading or unloading trucks - collecting and dropping off sheep to market using pick up and trailer. - Mustering sheep using pick up, bikes and dogs, moving flocks of over 1000 sheep accross main roads and to other fields/ to yards for drafting. - Tractor work, using front end loader to stack hay and feed hay to sheep, using feeding trailer to feed grain out. -Lamb feedlot, entrusted to ensure lambs were fed correct amounts of grain/hay depending on length of time in feedlot to ensure good growth for markets. - General farm maintenance, including fencing, fixing kennels roofs and serviceing vehicles and repairing parts on picks up/ large sheep truck. Over my time in Australia I was able to learn so many new skills and I am excited to apply these skills to achieve my goals back here in Scotland.
