Farming background

Worked on a 1500 acre mixed arable and beef farm where I was involved in all aspects of arable work including cultivating, carting, repair and maintenance of equipment. I was also involved with feeding the cattle, checking cattle, moving them from field to field and regular worming and vaccination. I then worked for a straw contractor in Essex stacking and carting bales, this involved driving a fastrac and artic trailer across Essex, liaising with different farmers as to straw stack locations, I was also driving a 9m telehandler stacking the bales and loading lorries, some for the UK and some for Europe, the European lorries had to have a CMR export document filled out as well as being stacked in curtain side lorries. I am current,y working for the family farm which is beef sheep and machinery sales, I am involved in all aspects of this including dealing with customers, sending invoices, preparing and repairing machines for sale, delivering the machines. When I am not dealing with the machinery I am caring for the stock including bedding, feeding, vaccinating, lambing, calving, weaning, sorting, and all associated animal husbandry. I also keep the buildings and feeders repaired and maintained. We do our own mucking out, muck spreading and grassland work including fence repairs, hedge cutting, rolling topping and harrowing.
