Farming background

I have previously worked on 3 different farms. The first was an organic mixed livestock farm on which I completed an apprenticeship. I worked with sheep, pigs, cattle, goats and poultry and gained a good base knowledge on the day to day care, necessary routine treatments and preventative healthcare needed to maintain healthy stock. I then worked with the City of London as the herdsman in their conservation grazing project based in Epping. I was in sole charge of the day to day care of 200 cattle both on the forest and in sheds including extensive electric fencing and invisible fencing maintenance. In that position I worked individually and part of a small team during larger tasks such as moving the cattle to new sites. I currently work as the stockman for Hatfield Park Farm where I was supervising seasonal members of staff and training them in livestock handling and husbandry. It was a mixed farm with sheep, pigs, goats, equines and poultry. I was responsible for day to day care of the livestock as well as being heavily involved in breeding plans with the aim of becoming a rare breeds centre.

Hobbies

I enjoy showing cattle, trying my hand at shearing, horse riding and rugby
