I have a vast experience of all aspects of sheep/cattle production, including Breeding Plans, Marketing Plans, Feeding Plans, Health Plans and some showing experience also including the odd judging stints.  I am well used to long days and I am considered a good Team Leader and comfortable with being in charge of both stock and other workers on a day to day basis.

Past YFC member where I competed at most YFC competitions and held various offices at Club, District, Area and National levels. I also represented my country twice at European events and traveled to the USSR with YF`s. I have also served in office at the local SNFU at both Branch and Area level. I was a SNFU appointment to the working party that set up the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park where I chaired the Land Managers Group.I was subsequently elected to the full Park Board to represent the local ward for 4 years and in that time was trained and served on the Planning Committee and the HR and Employers Tribunal Groups. I have also served my local parish on the community council.

Farming background

1981-2012 worked within Family Businesses going from "idiot boy" to working Manager/Grieve, 2012-2014 worked as self employed free lance Shepherd/Stockman, 2014-present Shepherd/Stockman on a small Highland West Perthshire Estate.  I am fully conversant with all aspects of paperwork requirements for running Livestock farms and can present Budgets and Annual Accounts to trial balance stage.

Hobbies

I am an avid rugby man but sadly nowadays watching rather than playing !! I am also a fairly decent standard club curler. I am also a member of the "farmers Choir" that mirrors the Farmers Wives Choir.
