The farm I currently work on was until recently a heifer/calf rearing business and my duties included weaned calf rearing to identifying bulling heifers for outside company to AI . Some milking when I was a student on 420 organic dairy herd in new Dairy Master 30 aside parlour. Lambing, sheep worming, vaccination, etc.  Sheep dog training.

Following qualification I have been employed on a farm with diversified business in the service sector namely a machinery sales, service and repair shop- farm/garden and small plant. Two years ago I was made a partner in this business and I have full involvement in the decision making for the growth of the business.

Farming background

Current post - contract heifer/calf rearing (post milk feeding) with typical farming activities including TMR (Keenan), telehandler, loader tractor, grassland management, fencing and bale carting.  Diversified farming operation with machinery sales, service and repair shop. Apart from the practical repair of machinery I hold responsibility for transport of machinery, spare parts and P.D.I on new machinery as well as demonstration and after sales service dealing with customers.

Hobbies

Buy and Sell farm/plant machinery working towards my HGV Licence with longer term goal of my own machinery haulage (farm machinery services) company, which may enable me to farm in my own right. I have my own small sheep flock which I would like to build up. I also have a small but growing collection of classic tractors and machinery.
