Farming background

05/2017 to date - Working on Dairy Farm looking after young stock and relief milking plus seasonal jobs, e.g fencing, bale wrapping etc 2001 to 04/2017 -  Working on farm comprising of 200 pedigree Simmental suckler cows plus young stock.  Also initially 400 mule, breeding ewes but this reduced to 250 Beltex and mule ewes with a Charolais ram and finished lambs for slaughter. In 2012/13 the ewe flock was sold to focus on the pedigree Simmental stock, in particular to achieve a polled herd. The farm now sells ewe lambs for breeding. Tractor work: – Muck spreading, Chain harrowing and rolling.  Spreading and rolling up grass for silage and hay,   Some mowing,   Also use of Manitou Telehandler 1992 – 2001   Working for my father’s farm which comprises of beef suckler cows, sheep and cereals. 1990 – 1991   My middle year placement on a dairy farm involved calf rearing and other stock tasks, as well as tractor work.
