I have worked on a range of stock farms, include beef and dairy farms, but I am more keen on sheep. I have carried out 3 years of lambing, and have a keen interest in becoming a full time shepherded. I do not come from a farming background but have always had a keen interest in livestock.

Farming background

I worked at an Activity farm for a month, as part of this work experience I mainly helped out with cleaning and feeding of the animals, and also helped with the public. Some of my duties include, cleaning out the pig pens in the morning, iron injecting piglets and moving then, and helping to feed all the livestock around the farm. I had learned a lot of new skills from this work experience, mainly handling of the livestock.  Cheese makers My main role involved helping with the milking and calving. This milking parlour had an 8 by 8 parlour and I had to collect the cows from the fields to be milked. I was also responsible for feeding and checking the calves during the milking. Farm B&B I also helped out on a sheep farm for a couple of days, helping to move the sheep up to be sheered. I learned how to correctly handle the sheep and checked the stock for any health issues. This farm also kept Aberdeen Angus cattle which I helped to feed and move in and out of the pens. I have also worked at Dairy farm, during the weekends. The farm had over 270 milking Holstein cross, with a 30 by 30 milking parlour. I also helped out with the calves after milking, my duties included feeding and checking the health of the calves and milking in the parlour. activity farm I currently have a weekend job at my main duties include cleaning and looking after the chickens that they keep, I also help out with the livestock.  I worked at farm for 1 month, as part of my work experience. My main duties where helping with the lambing, I had to make the pens up for the ewes and lambs, dip the navels of the lambs, and basic care of the lambs and ewes. I also did all the feeding for the beef cows, with a JCB tele handler. I stayed in my own flat lambing I had a lot of difficult lambing, which I enjoyed doing because I gained lots of experience and now feel more competent with lambing. I have also had experience with cultivation, at college, using their new Holland and John Deere tractors

Hobbies

I enjoy doing up old machines, including old tractor and landrovers.
