Farming background

Experienced combine operator of New Holland and Claas combines equipped with wide platforms up to 40ft and full GPS for mapping, CTF farming methods. Sprayer operator of Bateman RB35 with 36 metre booms and GPS capability. All mainline cultivation duties with John Deere, Fendt and Claas tractors, Simba and Vaderstad cultivation equipment and Horsch Drills. Mechanically able and capable of maintaining and operating equipment to exceptionally high standards with minimal supervision and strive for enviable results to achieve high yields and efficiency in operation. Currently working on mixed unit near to Cardiff which is being wound down due to past family illness and able to provide references on request. I must firstly apologise that due to a malfunctioning laptop I have been unable to save changes to my CV in word format so I hope you will accept my apologies if I summarise what I have been doing since Bicton College as I was keen to submit this before having my laptop sent away to be repaired! Firstly I hope that what is on my CV is of interest to you and as you can see I have considerable experience of working on large farms operating large machinery. I am an extremely skilled, mature and capable operator delivering first class results and have an incredible pride of doing a professional job first time and every time for my own pride and that of the organisation I work for. My machinery is kept in exceptional condition as I appreciate the costs involved in the equipment of today and will go to long lengths to ensure the machines are setup correctly to perform the best job that they are employed to do. I have a real interest in growing high performing arable crops and looking after the soil structure and fertility. As a candidate that is intelligent and 'knows' his job I need minimal supervision in recognising what needs to be done and will shoulder any responsibility that is put on me. Being computer literate I am capable of keeping clear and accurate records ensuring all is complied with over assurance and cross compliance schemes. As I was saying, since leaving Bicton College I have been working on a mixed unit of 1000 acres comprising arable, beef and sheep on the outskirts of Cardiff. In this role I am the sole and principle operator responsible for all field operations. We are running all John Deere tractors, Great Plains cultivation equipment and a Vaderstad drill. I have made vast improvements to the arable productivity and last year won first prize in the Vale of Glamorgan show for the best spring barley and oats. We utilise some precision techniques but I do not let those distract from the fact that even with all the technology in the world if you have a monkey in the seat you still will not produce the highest standards and that is what I strive to achieve each and every year. I am not a bum on a seat individual. I am now looking for a position that will put me back in a place where high achievement is required and if I can outline why briefly I would like to take the opportunity to do so. I took the decision while I was fighting a difficult divorce and gaining custody of my son to take a step back to allow me to concentrate on wrapping that up to a successful conclusion as it was a complete distraction, time consuming and difficult to devote the hours to a position such as yours would have required. That was all concluded some three years ago and my son has made monumental advances since that all happened. I am now in a position to get back to a demanding position and concentrate fully on the job in hand. It is not as if it just happened yesterday so I hope you can see I have not taken the decision to apply lightly!
