Farming background

I have been working in farming and agriculture since 2008.  During this year I was a student at Reaseheath College, and I did work experience at a farm near Malpas.  As a result I was then offered a full time job.  I remained there for just under one year and was then given the opportunity to work on a large farm in Much Wenlock, which was a temporary post of 6 months.  From 2010 to the present date I have worked on three farms within Cheshire and North Wales and have a wealth of experience with all aspects of dairy herd farming and management.  I have had herdsman responsibilities and I am confident I can demonstrate the required skills to lead in the absence of the Herd Manager.  I have experience of handling herds ranging from 140 up to 600, using a wide range of milking apparatus including 5 aside, 20/20 swing over, 16 aside and 14 aside swing over.  I have good skills with herd welfare and am confident in performing welfare checks, diagnosing clinical mastitis, and herd cleanliness as well as striving to maintain acceptable and excellent cell counts and bacto scan results.  I have worked with pedigree herds such as Montbeliarde, Genus as well as Holstein and Jerseys.  In addition I have good solid all-round farm hand skills and am adept at driving and operating a wide variety of heavy plant and vehicles.  These skills include, feeding wagons, vacu tanking, silage tractors, scraping out, rolling, rear discharge spreading, fencing and hydronic loaders. I am also knowledgeable with regards to calving and rearing, AI procedures and monitoring of bulling cows, handling bulls and calf delivery.  I am always keen to learn more skills if required.  I have strong animal welfare ethics.  My last post was only temporary as the farm owner became ill and the business was being wound down.  He subsequently died and I unfortunately had to move quickly, relocating to Liverpool.  Finally I am a hard working reliable employee and am not afraid of getting stuck in when needed. I am happy to travel and live in as required.  I would like a permanent position and some flexibility with hours as am a family man. I am currently working but looking for a permanent role.

I enjoy cinema, exploring new places, theme parks and am an excellent swimmer.
