Assistant Farm Manager - I was employed as the assistant farm manager on a large beef and sheep farm, based in the SW Scotland. My primary responsibilities were to manage the suckler herd, and to take a primary role in over-seeing the beef finishing unit. I managed a small team of staff, and was successful in improving daily live weight gains, by 0.5kg by improving the ration formulation, and improving the housing environment. Herd Manager - I managed a tight spring block calving herd of 600 cows, on a grass based system. I managed a small team of staff, and worked closely with the vet. I was responsible for the managing the grass wedge, and data input into agri-net software to gain maximum forage conversion from the milking herd. Head herdsperson - on a 350 cow dairy herd. My primary responsibilities are the day to day management of the dairy herd, and dry-stock. The cows are milked twice daily on 50 point rotary parlour. I manage a team of three full time staff. During my time in this position I have implemented a number of new protocols and improvements in an effort to improve mastitis control, lameness and fertility. I am also responsible for all record keeping and liase closely with the vet Herdsperson - milking and managing a herd of 150 cows, based on the isle of mull. Producing high quality milk to supply the on-farm, award winning cheese production.

I am originally from rural Cumbrian farming family, after spending a number of years as an active solider. I returned to my first passion, which is farming. I have working hard to develop my skills, and have been fortunate enough to have exposure to a number of interesting and varied farming enterprises. I am now seeking a suitably challenging new role, that will capitalise and make good use of my existing skill base.                         

Hobbies

 I have a motorhome which I enjoy holidays in traveling around visiting new places. I enjoying going out with friends to restaurants and to the cinema.  I enjoy going on holidays when I can, either to the sun or to the snow, I enjoy Skiing.
