Farming background

I am a well presented, well mannered, well spoken and polite individual. I am looking for a long term role in which I can carve a career path for myself, working with livestock. I especially enjoy working with cattle & sheep and have experience working with various stock. I pride myself on my excellent communication skills; I have often been complimented on these within my past employment roles. I have a full, clean UK driving license and own my own car. I work well as part of a team or by myself; I am able to lead others or settle into a role as a team member too. I will not shy away from any task, and I relish a challenge and being made to use my own initiative within problem-solving situations. I always aim to complete all tasks to the best of my abilities, and I am capable of being left to work alone and use my own initiative. I do not require constant reassurance from others, but am also more than happy to ask for help if need be, if I am unsure and do not want to make a mistake. I will always prioritise my work and am flexible and willing to work unsociable hours if I am required to do so. I feel that I have a calm and professional manner, which is essential to the workplace and can be applied to all different roles within different industries. I have a slight competitive edge to my personality, due to competing in Tokon Do Karate competitions, and training and competing with my dogs in dog agility competitions and field trials. I am passionate about Agriculture and British farming; having a keen interest in keeping livestock and British and local food produce. ⦁ General farm worker/milker, Creeting St Mary - August 2014 - Nov 2014) My part time employment here included milking the 35 cow (approx.) milking herd, general farm management tasks, for example mucking out, feeding, moving and health checking stock, general farm maintenance, tractor work, castrating, de- horning, disbudding, ear tagging, and also working with the small number of pigs, poultry, sheep & goats. This farm welcomes visitors to look around regularly, so this role required me to have excellent people skills and a vast knowledge of the role and the farm. There is also a farm shop which the produce is sold from, which required me to work with members of the public also. ⦁ General farm hand & milker, Dairy Farm, West Sussex - Oct-Nov 2012 This was a temporary role but one which I enjoyed very much, with my responsibilities including milking the 250-head herd of Friesans twice daily, and spending the rest of the working day carrying out general farm duties, moving and handling stock, feeding calves and general husbandry such as ear tagging, vaccinations, feeding & watering and cleaning out. ⦁ General farm hand, head pigman assistant, and planner for Special Needs childrens' activities, Sturgeons Farm, Writtle College - 2011-2012 In this role, as well as working full time as a general farm hand, I was also required to work with a small group of special needs children and their carers, who would visit once weekly. I worked closely with the group, planning activities and helping them. I thoroughly enjoyed these tasks, as I pride myself on my social skills and am often complimented on my approachable, friendly, open & confident manner.

Baking and cooking, dog training, beating, rough shooting, horse riding & hunting, socialising, Young Farmers, making cider, sloe gin etc. Out of work I also enjoy hosting dinner parties for family and friends, and swimming and other forms of keeping fit such as Zumba, spin classes and jogging.
