Farming background

I am from a dairy farming family in Wiltshire with 15 years farming experience.  My current position is as a grazing and grassland manager for a large mixed sporting estate.  My position includes the management of a 500 head flock of sheep along with management of the estates HLS/ELS agreements. This includes the management of all farm tenants and graziers on the estate and working closely with all the other departments.  I organise and manage the contractors and daily work schedule of all works related to the HLS scheme from grazing and grassland management to scrub management and all fencing across the estate.  My previous position to this was as Stock manager for a 550 cow grass based, spring calving herd in the New Forest. the role involved all related management of young stock, from 1 day old to in calf heifer management including all handling, de horning and regular weighing of all stock. This position involved all aspects of tractor work on both dairy and arable enterprises from grass and muck management to grain hauling, handling and drying.  The estate fencing and maintenance was undertaken by myself also. previous positions to this were all very similar on mixed farms along with farm contracting experience driving a wide range of equipment.  I have also milked on a relief basis in a variety of parlours.
