Farming background

I originally started farming on the arable side, corn carting and cultivating, with some relief combine driving. I then went abroad to New Zealand and Australia where i worked with a 900 dairy herd milking and helping calving, and then onto a cattle farm in Australia with 1000 head of cattle. Upon my return I studied agriculture as a masters and for the last 5 and a half years worked for Farmcare Trading LTD. I started as a trainee in Scotland working strawberries, and now run a 100 hectare top fruit farm in Kent as the Farm Fruit foreman. Responsibilities include day to day operational organisation of the team (spraying, pruning, mowing, orchard maintenance), accurate stock and record keeping, team motivation and support, machinery maintenance, clean and tidy working farm, crop walking and liaising with advisors and agronomists. Other duties include preparation for farm audits, implementing new harvest manager programs and other administrative jobs when required.

Captain of my local Rugby team, and enjoy shooting.
